A WhatsApp AI agent, because that is where your customers already are
Answers questions, qualifies, books, and hands off to a person, inside the app your customers open forty times a day. Live on the official WhatsApp Business API, roughly half the cost of the same thing on the phone.
- Official Business API, so your number stays yours
- Fixed price, agreed before we start
- You own the flows, the prompts, and the conversation data
Why this is worth building, and why us.
Most businesses discover WhatsApp by accident. Someone puts a number on the site, customers start messaging it, and within a year there is a phone on a desk that one person has to watch. It works right up until it does not: messages arrive after hours, the person watching it goes on holiday, and nobody can tell you how many enquiries were lost because nothing was ever written down.
A WhatsApp agent fixes the specific version of that problem you have. It answers the questions you answer twenty times a week, collects what you actually need before a human gets involved, books the slot, and passes the whole conversation to a person the moment it should. On the official Business API, so it does not get your number banned.
What we build into every WhatsApp agent
- 01Official WhatsApp Business API, not an unofficial library that risks a ban
- 02Conversations grounded in your real information, with a refusal path when it does not know
- 03Qualification questions you define, asked in the order that gets answered
- 04Booking straight into the calendar or system you already run
- 05Human handoff carrying the whole thread, into a shared inbox
- 06Every conversation stored and readable, so the "how many did we miss" question has an answer
Roughly half what the same agent costs on the phone
Text is cheaper to build than voice for two structural reasons, not because we are cutting corners. There is no latency budget to defend, so no fight to keep a response under a second, and there is no telephony stack: no numbers, no carrier routing, no speech-to-text and text-to-speech running on every second of every call. Same conversation design, a third of the engineering.

What the price does not include: Meta charges per conversation and those rates are theirs, not ours, billed to your account at cost. Business verification with Meta is a form-filling exercise we will walk you through, but it is their timeline rather than ours, and it is the usual reason a launch slips by a week.
Why text is genuinely cheaper than voice
On a phone call, silence is failure. Every response has to land inside about a second or the caller starts talking over the agent, which means the whole stack gets designed around latency: streaming speech-to-text, a model chosen partly for speed, text-to-speech, and telephony routing, all running concurrently on every second of every call. A large part of building a voice agent is defending that budget.
On WhatsApp, three seconds is normal and nobody notices. That single difference removes the telephony stack, removes the latency engineering, and lets us use the model that answers best rather than the one that answers fastest. The conversation design is the same work. Everything underneath it is not, which is why the price is roughly half.
The official API, and why it matters
There is a well-trodden shortcut here: an unofficial library driving WhatsApp Web, no Meta approval, live the same afternoon. It works, until Meta notices the traffic pattern and bans the number, which is usually the number printed on your business cards and every listing you have.
We build on the WhatsApp Business Cloud API. That means business verification, a template approval step for anything you send first, and a real rate limit. It is slower to start and it is the only version worth putting a business on. Chatberry, which we built, runs on exactly this stack.
What it should and should not do
Good candidates: the questions you answer every day, qualifying an enquiry before a person spends time on it, taking a booking, chasing a confirmation, telling someone where their order is. All of these are bounded, checkable, and boring, which is exactly what makes them safe to automate.
Bad candidates: anything where being wrong is expensive, anything that needs judgement about a specific person, and anything you would not be comfortable with a new hire doing unsupervised in week one. We will say so during the call rather than take the money and find out together.

Common questions.
01How much does a WhatsApp AI agent cost?
Ours is published: $1,497 for a pilot on one flow in two weeks, $2,997 for a production agent with CRM and calendar integration in three, and $497 a month if you want us monitoring and tuning it. Separately, Meta bills you per conversation at their own rates, which we pass through at cost rather than marking up.
02Why is this cheaper than a voice agent?
Because text has no latency problem and no telephony stack. A voice agent has to answer within about a second or the caller talks over it, which forces streaming speech-to-text, a model picked for speed, text-to-speech, and call routing, all live on every call. On WhatsApp a three-second reply is normal. The conversation design is the same work; everything underneath it is roughly half.
03Will this get our WhatsApp number banned?
Not on the stack we build on. We use the official WhatsApp Business Cloud API, which means Meta business verification and template approval for anything you send first. The shortcut that gets numbers banned is an unofficial library driving WhatsApp Web, and we do not use it, because the number at risk is usually the one on all your listings.
04Can it hand off to a real person?
Yes, and the whole thread goes with it into a shared inbox, so the customer does not repeat themselves. We treat the handoff as a feature rather than a failure: an agent that passes the awkward ones over cleanly is worth more than one that traps people in a loop trying to keep its containment rate up.
05Does it work in Arabic, or other languages?
Yes. Chatberry, which we built, is Arabic-first on the same Business Cloud API, so this is a stack we have already shipped a right-to-left, non-English product on rather than a capability we are guessing at. Tell us the languages and we will be specific about what holds up well and what needs more testing.
06How long until it is live?
Two weeks for a pilot, three for a production agent, with one honest caveat: Meta business verification sits in the middle of that and runs on their timeline, not ours. It is the usual reason a launch slips by about a week, and we start it on day one for exactly that reason.
Tell us what you keep answering on WhatsApp
One conversation is usually enough to tell whether this is worth building, which flow to start with, and what it would cost. If the answer is that you do not need an agent yet, we will say that.
